LONG WAY TO GO When you wake up and you find it’s a dream, Don’t understand, it’s to hard to believe. How can we ‘be’ if we never do see – It’s just the chains of this reality. Find that your fear is as one with ‘all we’ How do you know if you truly are free? When you wake up and you find it’s a dream, Don’t undertand it’s too hard to believe. Woah, you’ve got a long long way to go. If you are here then you don’t know ‘the way’ Or know the way, but have chosen to stay. Not many seek, but a few people may – But run away when the Mara come play. To put a foot on that path is a start, The rest is up to your head and your heart. Not many seek but a few people may, But run away when the Mara come play. (Chorus)
2.
OVERSTAND Somehow I see now, it’s all up to me now, I’m running out of things to say. My argument’s toothless, excuses are useless, Can’t stop me from running away. I try to appease me, but found it’s not easy To live in such a righteous way. The karma continues collecting the sins You won’t stop at the end of the day. Woah, we’ll never see the end of the suffering, woah Unless we stop - to question why... Woah, it’s easy to believe nothing’s happening, woah Your eyes may be open but you’re blind. Through walking and breathing, believe we’re existing But trapped by our own mistakes. The time that you’re taking might lead to escaping The small chance you’ll ever be saved. To question the reason is how we should seize them And stop them from getting away, Won’t rope them or brand them, we must overstand them And push for a positive change.

Fight 04:31
FIGHT Yesterday knows – what tomorrow never shows. This is no retreat, standing stronger on my two feet. No woodwinds blow, these wounds are hard to treat... Feeling your defeat now I’m seeing who I am again. I will break your rules, I will play my hand, Though I may have lost – there’s still a war to fight, and Though I may have lost, lost, lost. Ways that you chose – contributing to woes. Never will they seek, static on the fourth and second beats. Though I don’t know, I think before I speak, If it makes you weak, I’ll believe it for the hell of it. (Chorus)
4.
Tricks with paper, and stolen time, Instigator, as you roll and rhyme, Make me later in a state of mind, Soaked in vapour, try to make it mine. And all the things we find, We know it’s locked up deep inside, A key to free your mind, you’re already holding. Lost in caper, til you drop the dime, No aggravator, when you’re feeling fine, I wish you safer as you walk the line, No complicater, what’s yours is mine. (Chorus)
5.
No More Blue 03:23
NO MORE BLUE Woah, woah alright, woah Darkness cannot exist in the presence of light. Much like I know when the walls come down, we’re heading for a big big fight. Be strong now, no defeatist, it’s gonna take a lot to survive. So dig deeper, and hold on now, it’s gonna be a hell of a ride. To tell now what next will come – from the deception and lies, And the government plans that will elevate ‘the man’ Until we find the strength to rise. As the hunger, greed increases, The stakes begin to rise on both sides, So believe when I repeat this, we need to take a stand in the light Woah, woah alright, woah With the music, and a message – nothing get through our defence. We will leave them – non-believers as we rally for a life that makes sense. And the demons which infested it will never have a place to hide, When we sing these words, all the Mara gonna burn, burn, burn bye bye. Woah, woah alright, woah

THE PATH YOU TAKE Sequence of incidents you can’t control, Deep in your soul is a bottomless hole. Had it been known such a long time ago, What would have grown if not just left alone. Come on and show what’s inside of you. Repeat the accidents, you’re on a roll, No one will know if you break from the shoal. If this is all until your time comes to go, You need ro grow or you’re destined to be owned. Come on and show what’s inside of you.

THE METHOD With a method in his madness, we can all let go So slow, like the water rise... People eating up the soul, right before our eyes. So slow, our destiny is created, Not once but twice yeah we lose our minds, Only to find that we shoulda waited. Feel the one, the rhythm Move it to the music that be goin’ on Feel the one, the rhythm Move it to the music that be goin’ on With a method in his madness, we can all let go So don’t stop, keep moving, give it time Move to the music that is your life. And if it is that you think that the beat ain’t right – Stop, re-write it at any time. And as we go along our way, getting lost in the moment every day by day, Remember to listen what the prophet say, and follow your own insight. We are the holders and the makers of the key – we need to unlock our own destiny. And when it seems that the door won’t open, we need to knock it right down. So slow, like the water rise... People eating up the soul, right before our eyes. So slow, our destiny is created, Not once but twice yeah we lose our minds, Only to find that we shoulda waited. You’ve got to feel the one, the rhythm Move it to the music that be goin’ on Feel the one, the rhythm Move it to the music that be goin’ on With a method in his madness, we can all let go

Demons 03:44
DEMONS The enemy from within has got you up against a wall As you succumb to the next injection, And if you sold your soul to the man who’s just a hole Then you’re heading in the wrong direction. Powder your belief, that you think it’s your release but you don’t see with the best intentions, No longer who you were as your life becomes a blur, And you start to live in 2 dimension. Oh, why don’t we bleed when we are free? Oh, I why don’t we see that there’s no need? Oh, I won’t believe until I see, We’ve all got demons to feed. (Solo/break section) (Chorus) The remedy for your sins developed an allergy to your soul, Coz you bask in the last rejection, There’s never a way to sleep, if you carry on and keep Yourself confined in your own detention. Searching for the path, as you walk along the road, If you know, there’s no need to mention... I’d offer to assist but it’s best to walk alone than to walk with the worst companion. (Chorus)

about

When I started writing songs for what would become Mara Project, I never really had any intention of them being used, played, or becoming anything other than a bunch of songs for me to listen to myself.

Mara Project was the most organic songwriting experience I've ever had. All songs started off (usually when I happened to be sitting around bored, intoxicated or not really thinking about much) as innocent little riffs or vocal melodies that eventually evolved in to bigger bolder demos, and that's essentially what I wanted them to be.

No, not demos. I don't really like the word 'Demo', it feels kind of self-restricting and makes it sound like the product isn't as valuable somehow as it's not the final version. But in this case, these 'sketches' let's call them, became the final tracks - and that's exactly what songwriting is about for me.

Unlike with my other musical projects, these songs just happened with no logical process whatsoever. Most song writers have a 'way' or 'ways' of writing and creating songs, even I do, but these ones happened without any effort whatsoever.

I didn't ask them to, I didn't have to think about them for them to materialise - they just happened!

But alas, as with all good things, it must come to an end and so I've now made the decision to draw a line under the album, cutting it short at 8 tracks plus 1 bonus remix, and to leave the songs in their current state in terms of vocal takes, and instrument mistakes, although all tracks have been mixed and mastered to a respectable standard of course - some tracks I consider to be unfinished, but this is how they will remain as I have no desire to work on them any more at this time or for the forseable future.

I guess in that respect it kind of ties up nicely with the title of the album, there'll always be a long way to go.

A lot of this album is what I consider to be a beautiful accident (the next level up from a fluke!), and although I can never be 100% happy with anything I create (because I'm one of those annoying perfectionists!) I'm quite proud of how this turned out.

I hope you enjoy listening to the songs, and thank you for buying them.

All sales will now go towards building a home for those in need around the world with Habitat For Humanity with whom I have taken part in 2 housebuilding trips and had the most amazing life changing experience.

All sales between 31/03/2011 and 30/04/2011 were donated to Japan Red Cross to help the victims of the Earthquake and Tsunami.
